Cornell College is a private liberal arts college in Mount Vernon, which is a city in the US state of Iowa, in Linn County, adjacent to the city of Lisbon, with a small population of approximately 3400 ihabitants, estimated during the 2000 census.
Cornell College was established in 1853, being founded by Reverend Samuel M. Fellows, and adopted its current name in 1857, in honor of iron tycoon William Wesley Cornell, a distant relative of Ezra Cornell, founder of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
